Cardlee oats would have been added' to the recommended list for the Coastal Plains and southern Piedmont except that seed will not be available. Some seed has moved into Virginia from North Caroliha. This short-strawed variety also is resistant to Victoria blight and has an outstanding yield record in experiment station tests in its area of adaptation.
Farmers wanting to plant seed of these new varieties should buy certified seed to be sure they get the variety they want. Seed of all these varieties are limited this year. However, anyone who wants to try a new variety should obtain a small quantity of seed and compare it with the variety he is presently growing before changing completely to a new variety.
