Purchase of License
Imprinters for Use
Richmond, Va. . . John T. Hanna, Director of the Virginia Highway Safety Division, announced today that the Division’s application to the U. S. Department of Transportation requesting 50% federal reimbursement for the purchase or rental of driver license imprinters, which all enforcement agencies will be required to use after July 1, 1969 has been approved.
Mr. Hanna explained that the 1968 General Assembly enacted a law requiring that a police officer making an arrest for a traffic violation reportable to the Division of Motor Vehicles must use a special imprinter to transfer without handwriting the information on the new embossed operators’ licenses to summonses. It is felt that this procedure will substantially simplify the work of both enforcement personnel and that of the Division of Motor Vehicles.
