Hog Cholera
Two small swine herds had to be disposed of when hog cholera was traced into Rappahannock County. This was unfortunate, however, the owners will be reimbursed for the value of their hogs by the State and Federal -Government.
The State Hog Cholera Eradication Program had been rocking along very well until just recently, when bang-there were several flare ups in several widely separated areas of the state.
Your County Extension Office has been in constant touch with the State Veterinarians.
It is believed at this time that all sources of infection have been tracked down and eliminated. However, all hog producers are urged to keep a careful lookout and to notify your Veterinarian, the State Diagnostic Laboratory in Warrenton or your County Agent, if you suspect hog cholera on your farm.
