New Gobbler Kill Record
The Virginia 1969 spring gobbler kill of 1,373 has exceeded last year’s by a dozen birds establishing a new record, reports Game Commission Game Management Field Coordinator C. H. Shaffer. Wythe County claimed the highest total kill with 62 gobblers bagged. Other counties with large kills were Augusta with 56, Prince William with 54, Fauquier with 51, Dinwiddie with 48, Bath with 44 and Bland with 43. Most southwest, central and Northern Virginia counties yielded good numbers of gobblers.
