The green lines dividing the compass into several parts can dso mean that Virginia’s park system is made up of individual units tied closely together.
“Everyone looking at the emblem might get a little different shade of meaning,” the commissioner said. “But that is appropriate, because parks mean many things to different people. So whatever interpretation you want to give it is all right.”
Bolen joked, “If you see a big yellow star over a green mountain and blue lake, you may not be in heaven but you’ll be close. At least you’ll know you’re in a Virginia state park.”
Mrs. Dodson Feted on 87th Birthday
Mrs. Monie Dodson celebrated her 87th birthday on Sunday, June 1, 1969 at her home in Sperryville. Those attending were Mrs. Elmer Bowling, Mrs. J. D. Taylor and children of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Netus Brown, Mr. and Mrs. * James Dodson, Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Brown and daughters of Sperryville. The highlight of Mrs. Dodson’s day was a bouquet of flowers sent from Hawaii by her granddaughter and husband, Sgt. and Mrs. Lee Swindler.
