A report on examination of accounts and financial records of Rappahannock County for the year ending June 30, 1970 was a major item on the agenda of the meeting of the local Board of Supervisors Thursday. The audit, handled by Daniel A. Robinson 6 Associates of Charlottesville, was accompanied by a statement which said, in part, “the results of the audit indicated that the affairs of the county generally were well administered during the year, and the books and records found to be in good order. The examination disclosed that the Treasurer had made proper accounting for all funds of record coming into his custody.”
Present at the meeting to go over the audit with the Board were Mr. Robinson and Walter E. Cox, an associate. They reported that recurring revenue had increased as had recurring expenses, but there was a surplus of over $34,000, which is much larger than usually occurs. Total revenue collected for all county expenditures was $880,466.30 compared to $810,281.17 for the previous year.
Greatest increase in expenditures fell in the school funds.
