How big are the taxes that residents of Rappahannock County are called upon to pay to their state and local governments'? How do they compare with the taxes paid by people in other communities across the country?

In line with the rising cost oi living generally, the taxes in the local area have been climbing steadily.

Such has been the case in every other part of the country. According to a recently issued report, Americans paid an average of $380 to their state and local governments in fiscal year 1969-a jump of $42 per person over the previous year and $62 more than in 1967.

In Rappahannock County, the state-local tax load in the yeai amounted to approximately $260 per capita.
