The greatest increase in expenditures for the year was, as might be expected, in the schools with the general expenses up somewhat also. The seemingly endless problem of trash was again broached and a discussion on two likely contracts with refuse companies followed. The Trash and Dump Committee was requested to follow up on these and bring to the next meeting, a concrete recommendation for action.
A? representative of the Highway Department was not present. Approval was noted on hospital bills submitted by the Welfare Department and a request for more shelves in the Clerk’s Office received the green light.
Board Chairman Newbill Miller and Supervisor Norman Wilbur reported on a meeting in Cuipeper of a regional planning group which they had attended. They alerted the Board on the possibility of receiving a charter for enrollment of the county into the Regional Group. This, in all probability, will become necessary in the future before a county may receive Federal funds.
