The hunting season for deer, quail, rabbits, squirrels and grouse opens in Rappahannock County and all adjoining counties this coming Monday, November 15, Virginia hunters wi» have an added game specie this year. Pheasants will be legal game the first two days, the 16th and 17th.
The bear season opened this past Monday statewide and will continue through December 31st in this area. Counties west of the Blue Ridge have been open to small game, including turkeys, since November 2.
As in past years there will be no Fall turkey season in Rappahannock County. The same applies to Madison County. Culpeper and Fauquier Counties will have a 5 week turkey season running through December 19th. In these two counties as well as all east of the Blue Ridge only gobblers are legal.
Bag limits and seasons remain the same as last year in Rappahannock. One deer per season, either sex the last day only, January 5. Rabbits, squirrels and grouse season goes through January 30, with a daily bag limit of 6, 6, and 3 respectively. The quail season here will again go through February 15, and again the daily limit will be 8 birds. The bag limit for pheasant hunters will be one male bird per day, during the two day season.
