The Crippled Children’s Hospital, dedicated to the free treatment of crippled and handicapped children, will hold its annual Donation Day, Tuesday, November 24, 1970. A total of $205,000 will be needed to complete the operating expenses for 1970.
The Crippled Children’s Hospital, which is now 50 years old, administers not only to all the physical and therapeutical needs of the patients, but helps in every psychological way to make their lives normal and happy. Aside from hospitalization the care of the patient includes medicine, operations, dental needs and orthopedic appliances. It also includes physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapy. The 100 bed hospital located at 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, Virginia, serves the entire state. Patients from practically every county |md city in Virginia were treated at this hospital last year. Some of the accomplishments of the hospital during the past year were: 31,178 days of hospitalization, 898 operations, 979 piaster casts, 3,731 X-ray procedures and 12,283 physical threrapy treatments, and 3,648 patients were seen in the specialty clinics. All of these services were without cost to the children or their parents. Hospital costs miraculously have been held to $24.35 per day chiefly because of the volunteer help given by churches, clubs, civic organizations and friends of the hospital. The doctors give their
