1/Sgt. George E. Terry of Hampton has retired after serving twenty years with the U.S. Army. Retirement ceremonies were held October 31, 1970 at Fort Eustis and he was awarded the Army Commendation, Medal (Second Oak Leaf Cluster) for meritorious service for the past ten years. During his military service, he has received five good conduct medals also. Terry entered the U.S. Army in October 19S0 from Grand Isle, Vt. and received his basic training at Fort Dix, N.J. He served in tl\e Korean War from March 1952 until August 1953 and was awarded the Bronze Star. He served two summers in Greenland and was also stationed in Thailand and Viet Nam. Sgt. Terry is married to the former Eloise Estes of Washington, Va. and they have three children, Wanda, Eddie and Billy. The Terrys will make their home in Hampton and Mr. Terry has a position in Newport News.
