THE FINAL step is the location of monitors at the fire houses and in the homes of various department members. These tone activated devices will allow the dispatcher to inform members of the nature and location of the call. This will be convenient for members who may not be able to hear the siren at their homes. Due to the expense of the monitors, not all members will have them in their homes or cars, but it is hoped that eventually these can be provided for every active department member.
