RAPPAHANNOCK’S Board of Zoning Appeals turned down the request of the Rappahannock Ski ' Area Inc. for a special use permit to allow parking for 150 camper trailers. The special use permit was requested on behalf of contract purchasers Donald Weil and Clift Miller of Front Royal. Weil and Miller had tentatively agreed to buy the ski area, provided they could get permission for the camper trailer park.
According to Donald Weil and James A. Moore, president of the Rappahannock Ski Area Inc., the ski area must become an all year recreational resort in order to be profitable. Virginia winters have proved too warm to depend solely upon skiing, they said. Both Weil and Moore maintain that camper trailers are necessary if the ski area is to be used all year.
