As the new school year approaches, I would like to relay some information to Rappahannock County parents.
At the beginning of 1974-75 school year, it so happened that new textbooks for my eighth grade science students were late arriving. Therefore, these students made strong efforts to find used books. About 90 students actually were able to buy used books—for a couple of dollars—and only about 25 students bought their science books new, for about $6.40 each.
Of course, if new books had been available during that first week of school, most students would have purchased them. The point is that
