THE annual Flint Hill Firemen’s Carnival is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, August 4-7, at the carnival grounds there. Among the activities planned are an attendance prize given Wednesday, a giant parade Thursday and prizes, rides, food and fun each night.
Special attractions include Miss Virginia, Pam Polk, leading the parade Thursday; a hot air balloon and other performers from the Flying Circus at Bealeton, and displays by the Highway Department and Game Commission.
Wednesday night, the opening, will be highlighted by an attendance prize of $100 cash. Persons must be present to win.
Thursday’s grand parade begins at 6:30 and entries number in excess of 125. Featured will be the newly crowned Miss Virginia, a senior at V.P.I. & S.U., where she is a voice major. ' The parade will be catapulted literally into the third dimension this year with flights by a hot air balloon and several antique airplanes from the Bealeton Airdrome. The balloon will be the focal point of the carnival’s opening ceremony Wednesday at 7 p.m. If the wind and weather are right, the pilot, John King of Opal, will make several short hops on a tether line offering a bird’s eye view of the carnival site, according to parade chairman, Moe Walker.
