The maid of honor was Miss Beverly Atkins of Sperryville who wore a long gown of printed, multi-color cotton voile with long sleeves. Lace trimmed the square neckline and bib front of the empire bodice. She wore a pink picture hat trimmed with ribbon and carried a bouquet of pink daisies and baby’s breath.
Bridesmaids were Betty Compton and Molly Dennis of Castleton, Ann Stokes, Sperryville and Diane DeBergh of Washington. Their gowns were of pale blue cotton voile with multi-colored flowers, fashioned like that of the honor attendant. They wore white picture hats and their flowers were blue daisies and baby’s breath.
Donnie Welch of Flint Hill was best man and ushers included Charles and Ronald Dodson, brothers of the bridegroom, Ritchie Vaught of Front Royal and Harry G. Turnmeyer, Jr. of Flint Hill.
A reception followed at the Flint Hill fire hall where Mrs. Ritchie Vaught served the wedding cake and Mrs. Helen Foster presided at the punch bowl. Attending the guest book was Miss Joyce Walker while Mrs. Charles Dodson attended the gift table.
The mother of the bride wore a pink knit dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The bridegroom’s mother chose a vanilla jacket dress and green accessories. Her corsage was yellow roses.
For traveling the bride wore a deep coral pant suit with tan accessories and a corsage of white carnations. They will reside in Flint Hill on their return.
