RAPPAHANNOCK Zoning Administrator Evan McNear presented two proposed changes in the zoning and subdivision ordinance to the Commissioners. Commission Chairman Herbert Barksdale said he had asked McNear to keep track of the changes that McNear felt would improve the ordinance so that the Planning Commission would be that much ahead when it came time to revise the document. State law requires that the ordinance be updated every five years.
In regard to updating the zoning' maps, McNear said that the regulations tell how to change the maps but do not place the responsibility of physically making the change upon anyone. McNear didn’t feel that the responsibility should be his. Instead, he maintained, it should belong to someone other than the person who administers the ordinance. “I’m asking the Planning Commission’s guidance as to who should do it and get the zoning map situation strictly under control.”
