There will be 500,000 4-H’ers in Virginia by 1985, Kenneth E. Dawson, state 4-H director, projects. Dawson made the prediction at the State 4-H Congress at Virginia Tech.
Speaking before 1,400 4-H Con-1 gress delegates and guests, Dawson said that with the help of present 4-H’ers and more clearly defined goals, 4-H programs will broaden and become more significant. He also predicted that 40, 000 volunteer leaders will be needed to deal with this expansion. There now are 208,000 4-H members in the Old Dominion.
