Emergency loans for farmers are now available through County Offices of the Farmers Home Administration (FmHA), Mortimer L. Trew, FmHA County Supervisor, said today.
Mr. Trew asked that those who need farm credit as a result of the drought make their needs known at the FmHA office at 604 S. Main St., Culpeper, Virginia, or call 825-4200. Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock Counties are served by the Culpeper office.
FmHA loans covering actual production losses may be used to buy feed, seed, fertilizer, livestock, or to meet interest and depreciation payments on current real estate and chattel debts. Other loans beyond actual losses can be made for annual operating expenses or to make major adjustments in a farming operation. To be eligible for a loan, an applicant must have suffered losses from the recent drought. If you have suffered losses from the drought during this growing season, please contact the above office.
