He explained that the fending for Rappahannock’s special education and vocational program is a 50 per cent split between state and local . money while the state pays 34 per cent and the county 66 per cent of the fends for basic education. “The more that’s moved from categorical funds to basic education, the less Rappahannock will get,” he noted.

Bloomer told the Board member* that, as of Tuesday morning, he thought all vacancies at the schools had been filled. However, Tuesday evening he presented the Board with four requests for release from contracts.
Buddy Carter, recently hired to replace retiring principal Mary Botts Quaintance at the elementary' school, asked to be relieved of his contract to accept an administrative post in Alleghany County and requested that his last working day be August 11. "This is a real difficult time for us to be losing a contracted principal from our system,” said Paul Nichols.
