“I don’t feel it’s' any concern of our if Mr. Goode has spent a lot of money...He’s in the land speculation business,” noted Mrs. Holschuh.
“We’re going to have growth but I feel it should be limited,’’ said Candy Coombs. She added that she was in favor of Goode’s subdivision. “Ramblers stuck into the middle of farms offend me more than a group of houses located outside a village where you might expect to find some.”
“If we had a comprehensive plan, we wouldn’t be in this position,” Eileen Day commented. While not in favor of Goode’s proposals, she maintained that the county needs small lot subdivisions to provide affordable housing for county citizens. “If we had a comprehensive plan, then we could show a developer where he could put small lots.”
Supervisor Eastham recognized Carl Thompson, who sold the Flint Hill property to Goode, in the audience and asked him if he had any opinion.
“I think they’re railroading Mr. Goode. All the opposition is here,” Thompson answered. Eastham countered that the meeting had been advertised.
“I agree. They’re railroading Mr. Goode,’’ interjected Roland Welch from the back of the courtroom.
