The last meeting of the Board of Supervisors was most revealing in a number of ways.
Foremost was the courage of the Board in voting against a rezoning which would have benefited only the developer. Had rezoning from agricultural to residential been permitted, the five acre (and less) atrocities would have spread far beyond the mere 77 acres. People owning hundreds of acres are waiting for such a precedent to be established.
A close second is the glaring need for improvement of our protective regulations and procedures. We remain vulnerable to these despoilers of our precious land. Perhaps limits on housing starts per year are in order. Such an ✓ approach was successful in a California area and sustained all the way to the Supereme Court. Certainly plugging some loopholes in the current regulations is needed. For example, subdivisions of less than five parcels can be approved by the zoning
