The Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department may yet get a third full time deputy.
Sheriff W. A. Buntin repeatedly has asked for another deputy, but the county supervisors consistently have declined to provide the necessary funding. Now the deputy’s salary may be financed through the Virginia Alchohol Safety Program (ASAP) instead of with money from local taxes and from the State Compensation Board.
At last Thursday’s meeting of the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors, chairman E. P. Luke read a letter from Planning District 9's VASAP director. Dean Irvine.
