The Rappahannock Supervisors may decide to go with a three-times-a-week trash pick-up for a month’s trial at Hunt ly and Amissville. The Supervisors discussed increasing pick-up frequency at Thursday's Board meeting but postponed action until at least their September meeting.
The trash issue came up as Supervisor chairman Pete Luke read a letter from Mrs. Lorraine Early on behalf of Early’s Carpet in Amissville.
In the letter, Mrs. Early reported that highway construction was moving closer to the trash collectors and urged the Board to find another site so this "desperately needed service" could continue.
Mrs. Early noted that trash service used to be available in Amissville for $5 per month until closing of the county dump forced discontinuance.
Early’s Carpet doesn’t use the county’s dumpsters for trash disposal because of the problems this would create with people scavanging for carpet scraps, according to Mrs. Early.
