Inc Virginia Revenue Resources and Economic Commission, in accord with a request from the Governor, is conducting a study of the real property tax.
While real property tax is the mainstay of local taxation, it is also the most unpopular of all taxes, according to Commission Chairman Joe Leafe of Norfolk.
In an effort to ‘‘accumulate all available input,” the Commission has scheduled four public hearings. The two closest to Rappahannock are set for 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg and for 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Arlington.
