Their farm, called Windrush, is on Rt. 673 near Flint Hill and is a scenic and attractive piece of land with a two and a half mile frontage along the Jordan River. There are some tremendous trees on the property including an enclave of Eastern Hemlock that somehow missed the axe during the period of lumbering in the area and now tower in real majesty.
The open fields and the hardwood forests of Windrush harbor an excellent selection of wildflowers. At this time of year the pale blue of the Virginia day lilies contrasts nicely with the redorange of the butterfly bush along the trails.
Perhaps one way to give a better look at Windrush would be to quote from a report turned in by the first two amateur, but avid birdwatchers who asked for permission to use the property:
“We didn't pick the best time for our visit, but Dave had to leave Tuesday for Ohio, so regardless of the fact that it had rained all night, we started early in the mornint? as that seems to be the best time for bird watching.
