A Sighting Of Hawks
"We hadn’t gone a quarter of a mile until Dave exclaimed: Look at that—I've never before seen five hawks in the same tree." A delegation of crows soon arrived to drive off the hawks, but not until we had seen enough of size and color to determine that they were sparrow hawks.
"Within the next 10 minutes we had identified a yellow breasted chat, an indigo bunting and two scarlet tanagers. My partner then quoted an in house joke about a little old lady in their Audubon Society in Cleveland who said. "Well, we've seen one pretty blue bird, one brilliant yellow bird, and one bright red bird: we might as well go home now!"

Dave, with all of his years of bird watching, was able to add two new species to his life list of birds identified in the field."
Well, that's Windrush for you. It has everything to attract a wide variety of birds and wildlife. About half the area is in open fields, perfect spots for the prairie-type birds such as the grasshopper sparrow. The balance is eastern hardwood forest, with the beginnings of some evergreen forest also.
Stream Over Ledges
The land is rolling and drops sharply to the Jordan, a beautiful stream that rolls and tumbles over rocky ledges and splashes off from clitTlike rock walls. A small pond on the property attracts another variety of birds.
