2. all continuing contract teachers be observed for formal evaluation once during the first semester of each school year. (Current evaluation procedures state that continuing contract teachers may be formally evaluated a minimum of one time during a three-year period.)
3. a post observation conference be held or some type of correspondence sent to teachers after every forma! evaluation.
4. requirement for teachers to ‘‘know the home and community environment of each child" be changed to “attempt to know”.
5. requirement for teachers to adhere to a “professional code of ethics" be widened to include the code referred to. (At present, the professional code of ethics is not detailed anywhere in the teachers' handbook, according to the RCEA.)
6. requirement for teachers to accept "additional tasks willingly” be changed to accept ‘‘reasonable additional tasks willingly."
In her statement to the Board, Mrs. Baines noted that teachers had not seen a copy of the proposed evaluation procedure until the previous morning. November 20, and that the high school committee had not had the opportunity to review the proposals. Accordingly, she requested the Board to delay its consideration of evaluation criteria until the December meeting to allow teachers more time to offer suggestions.
