Hawkins, Deputy John Mannion and Trooper Moore were among those who j wanted to continue on after 2 a.m.
When members of the family and loyal friends returned to the area to continue the search at daybreak, the Deputies and Trooper did also. I was told that it was Trooper Moore’s day off officially, yet he valiantly participated in the search until the body was found.
Hats off to our Sheriffs Department in our darkest hours of need and to all those other heroic volunteers who participated. Please accept my heartfelt thanks.
