Noting that teachers had been asked to help improve school administration, Mrs. Baines requested that two School Board members and two administrators meet with teacher representatives to prepare an “informal assessment” of administration for presentation at the December meeting.
Mrs. Massie did not respond to Mrs. Baines’s suggestion although she said later that the request for an assessment of the administration would be taken up when presented to the School Board by the Superintendent.
During a presentation on teacher evaluation procedures by Dr. Bloomer later in the meeting, no mention was made of Mrs. Baines’s request. Bloomer reported that the proposed evaluation criteria under consideration by the Board had been consolidated by the administration with assistance from the teachers and principals at both schools. He emphasized that the procedures concerned teachers only, adding that criteria for judging administrators and nonprofessionals would be submitted later. He suggested that the Board members read the evaluation procedures. "Then we will react to it at the December meeting,” with a decision on when the new policy will become effective to be made at time of adoption.
