Hitt

Mrs. Ethel Cornelia Hitt of Amissville died November 24, 1978 at the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal. She was 83, the widow of John Festus Hitt. A native of Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Zachary Taylor Hitt and Elizabeth Dean, and a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church near Viewtown.

Survivors include two daughters. Mrs. Kathryn Gaines of Flint Hill and Mrs. Hilda Eckardt of Amissville; six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Allen Melvin Hitt.

A funeral service was held Sunday from the Geest Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper conducted by the Rev. David Brown. Interment was in the family cemetery near Amissville.
