Masterson reported that the median number of years spent in school by Rappahannock residents was 8.6 while the state median was 11.7 and national median 12.2 years.
“Our budget is increasing at $100,000 a year. Are skills increasing at the same rate” he asked.
Bloomer responded that the contents of the proposed budget would provide for text book purchases, inservice training for teachers through workshops and consultants, purchase of instructional supplies to help teachers “provide a learning environment,” opportunities for high school students to meet minimum standards for graduation and elementary students to master basic learning skills.
