Merle Scoggin, Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, is announcing her intentions this week to seek the office of the Commissioner, which will be vacated at the end of this term by Virginia D. Smith.
Mrs. Scoggin has been the Deputy Commissioner for eight years, and says she feels qualified to handle the position with all of this experience. She lives at Washington with her husband Harold. They have one son, Bill who is a student at Virginia Tech.
