Agriculture BCIA Bull Sale—Fiftythree performance tested junior bulls will be sold this Friday, March 30, at noon at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises. 26 Angus, 13 Polled Hereford, 4 Hereford, 2 Charolais, 4 Simmental, 4 Red Angus and 1 Beef Master will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Rappahannock purebred breeders selling bulls in this sale are Ray Cannon, Ned Johnson and Randall Updike.

Beef Price Situation —Since the first week of January 1979, fed cattle prices have made some rather dramatic increases. Choice fed steers at Omaha started the year averaging around $56. This past week comparable cattle were averaging around $73 or about $17 per hundred weight higher.

During the same time period slaughter cows averaging around $47 moved up into the $53 range, up about $6 per hundred since the beginning of the year.

Steer calves weighing 400500 lbs. selling $80 to $81 at the beginning of the year are now averaging over $101.
