the Thanksgiving holiday at their respective homes. Mrs. Ralph Rowzie was in Orange Friday to visit her son-in-law and daughter, the Rev. and Mrs. John H. Willis III and attend a performance of the Orange Symphonic Band in concert. Both Mr. and Mrs. Willis play in the band.

Unexpected snowfall closed Skyline Drive for several days and sharply reduced the number of visitors to Sheandoah National Park during October, a month that normally sees hordes of travelers in the park to admire the changing of the leaves.
According to statistics released by superintendent Robert Jacobsen, the park had 306,000 visitors in October, 1979, compared to 412,000 in October, 1978, for a decrease of 23.8 per cent.
For Calendar Year 1979 compared to Calendar Year 1978, the decrease is 25.7 per cent. Overnight stays for October, 1979, totaled 48,110 compared to 66,780 for October, 1978.
Weather statistics logged at the Big Meadows station show a maximum temperature for October of 73 degrees and a minimum of 19 degrees. Rainfall amounted to 6.5 inches and snow accumulated to a depth of 14 inches.
