Wakefield’s Junior and Seniors presented to a school assembly on Monday Act V of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The performance was inspired by a recent production of Hamlet seen by the students at Wayside Theatre and by the study of the play in Senior English. The part of Hamlet was played by Michael Blake, Claudius by Noel Connors, Gertrude by Halimah Holliday, Horatio by Michael White, and Laertes by Jerry Smith.
Representaives from the Rappahannock Cancer Society visited Wakefield on Monday and distributed literature designed to make students more aware of the health hazards that result from smoking. Mrs. Pauline Bruce of the Society introduced Jim McGarvey of the Rappahannock Mental Health Clinic who spoke to the students about his personal experiences in “Kicking the habit” of smoking.
