Instruction doubles as the Director of Title I. One-half of his salary is paid by Title I. Title I also funds a parttime clerk at the Central Office to handle the multitude of paper work required for the program.
To further insure that local Title I programs appropriately serve the needs of the eligible children, a local parent advisory council (PAC) is elected by the public. Ten parents, a guidance counselor, and two teachers elected by the PTA currently serve on the PAC. The Title I director serves as an exofficio member and advisor.
The major task of the PAC is to advise the school board, through the Title I Director, on Title I matters. It meets at least four times annually. Actions by this PAC include class visitation, analysis of current programs, perusal of Title I applications and evaluation of recommendations for new programs; The PAC Chairman (a parent) sits on the Division-wide Standards of Quality Advisory Council as spokesman for the PAC.
