Criteria Set By Law
At the June 21 meeting of the electoral trustees, members of the audience were given a list of criteria the trustees were using to evaluate school board nominees. According to the list, a school board member should:
—be a taxpaying voter,
—be genuinely interested in the public schools and have a desire for their improvement,
—be of good standing in the community, of unquestionable honesty and integrity with a reputation for good judgement,
—be able to think independently, rely on facts,
—be successful in business and employment so that the public recognizes his or her ability to direct the school system's business affairs.
