Spring Concert
The Rappahannock Choral Society, under the direction of Gloria Harris, is preparing for its annual spring concert which is scheduled for Sunday, May 3 at 8 p.m. in the Washington school house. The chorus will perform J. S. Bach’s Cantata No. 106, “God’s Time Is Best”. Soloists will be Beth Bollinger, Judy and Donald Bomberger. Instrumentalists will include Robin Dexter on flute, Faye Witherell on oboe and Virginia Bethune, piano accompanist. This cantata states beautifully and briefly the prophesy and fulfillment of Jesus Christ, said Mrs. Harris.
Other religious works included are the favorite “St. Francis Prayer” and “Faure”. "Cantique de Jean Racine.” Secular selections are an arrangement of “Londonderry Air”, “Greensleeves” and popular Madrigals. Novelty selections are a delightful fugue based on Peter Piper (Bach style) and the now famous “Canon in D” by Pachelbel.
Guests will again be the Front Royal Madrigals directed by Jo Nutter. Also a newly formed woodwind quartette will be making a debut.
