News was a bargain at $2.50 per year.
The April 7 edition reported: “New Industry Pledges Total of $13,500 In First Week.” The headline referred to the efforts of the Rappahannock Industrial Association and the fund raising drive they were conducting to provide an industrial site and building for the textile plant interested in opening a branch in Rappahannock County.
The front page photo was of Mrs. Janies P. Jamieson, Secretary of the Rappahannock Hunt, presenting a trophy to Miss Lee Greenaway after she won the Col. Richard’s Memorial on Redmond. The hunt had been postponed several times because of the weather.
Pitts Theatre in Front Royal was showing the Dairy of Ann Frank, The Oregon Trail with Fred McMurray. Pork Chop Hill with Gregory Peck, and Woman Obsessed with Susan Hayward.
Smiths Better Mens’s Wear in Front Royal was selling sport coats from $19.74 to $35.00, and suits from $39.50 to $55.00.
Also on sale in Front Royal was a Samsonite folding table for $9.95 at Weavers.
