Hall said he used 1978-79 sales figures in setting appraisals for the county’s recent reassessment. With the supervisors’ decision to delay implementation until 1982, the appraisals will be compared to sales figures in 1982 instead of 1981, Hall noted. “Also, you have the board of equalization. Although their job is not to cut values, they could,” he said. This would bring appraisals down even further from 100 percent market value. especially when contrasted against actual sales in 1982, he indicated.
Added Cost
The usual money-conscious Rappahannock supervisors made no mention of any added cost in delaying implementation of the market value assessment other than added computer expense. But in order to postpone using the new appraisals for 1981 tax bills, the board passed a resolution, extending Hall’s contract and responsibilities for another year. The extra
