The home of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Woodward near Ben Venue was destroyed by fire Monday and all of their furniture, clothing, linens and a large assortment of priceless antiques were lost.
High winds fanned the flames making it impossible to save any of the furnishings and very difficult for firemen to control the blaze. The house contained a large collection of antiques collected over the years.
"You just can’t believe what it is like to lose everything, not to even have a bed to lie down in,” said Mrs. Woodward, who added that they would take any and everything offered them. They have only the clothes which they wore.
Mrs. Woodward wears a size 12 dress and her husband wears a size 17 shirt and 48 trousers.
“We will probably rebuild, as soon as we can arrange it," said Mr. Woodward. "Right now we’ve got to get over the shock and get reestablished.”
