Krebser Appointed

In other action, Gilkey nominated Dr. Werner Krebser as planning commission member from Wakefield District to replace Herbert Barksdale whose term has expired. The appointment was approved unanimously with supervisors Dick Latham and H. B. Wood abstaining. As reason for his failure to vote, Latham said Krebser has “extensive real estate holdings in the county,” the same grounds Latham cited in abstaining from another earlier vote on Newbill Miller’s nomination to the commission. Wood gave no reasons.

Luke reported that Lester Deal, owner of a gift shop in Sperryville, has again requested the supervisors to enact a loitering ordinance. The chairman recalled that the supervisors tabled action on a proposed loitering ordinance last year on the grounds that it would be difficult to enforce.
