If farmers don’t get some relief, taxes are going to go up anyway as farms are sold off to developers, according to Jack Atkins. The decision before the supervisors, he said, is whether taxes should go up a little now (with adoption of land use) or a lot later as agricultural land is converted to more intensive uses.
At the close of discussion, the supervisors announced that they will decide on specifics of a land use ordinance to advertise for public hearing at a special session on April 20. At the request of supervisor Hubert Gilkey, the hearing will be held at night, probably at the elementary school, on May 7.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen W. Huff of Tampa, Fla. announce the birth of a son, Stephen Brett, on March 23, 1981 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.
