Graveside services for Mrs. • Mary Ellen Thomas of Sperryville were held Saturday at Washington Masonic Cemetery conducted by the Rev. John K. Burke.
Mrs. Thomas, 56, widow of James Thomas, died Wednesday, April 1. 1981 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A native of West Virginia she was the daughter of Mrs. Virgie Alther Pullen of Sperryville and the late Joseph Pullen.
Besides her mother she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Gatterbuck and Mrs. Raymond Smoot, both of Sperryville. Mrs. Louise Fincham of Front Royal and Mrs. Delma Hamm of Culpeper; a son, Charles Thomas of Leesburg; thirteen grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; two sisters. Miss Virginia Pullen of Sperryville and Mrs. Marie Thomas of Warrenton and two brothers, James Pullen of Washington and Paul Alther of Front Royal.
Cosden
Virginia H. Cosden, 78, of Dover, Delaware, died Tuesday, April 7, 1981 in Dover General Hospital following a long illness.
A former teacher in Rappahannock County, she retired in 1968 as an elementary teacher from the Sperryville School.
Surviving is a son, G. Caywood Cosden Jr., of Camden, Delaware; a daughter. Eleanor C. Stokes of Wyoming, Delaware, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at the Torbert Funeral Home Chapel in Dover. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
£ Auxiliary Planned
An endeavor is being made in Sperryville to generate interest in the organization of a Ladies Auxiliary to the fire company there. Any lady in the area who may be interested in joining should attend the meeting April 15 at 7 p.m. in the fire hall.
