For several years, Helen Nethers was gossip editor of the Little Washington Post, a school publication that was printed within the Rappahannock News. Perhaps some long-ago students of Washington High School will recognize themselves in her gossip: “Evelyn Mills is sure primping a lot lately. Wonder why? Where was Eloise last Saturday night, around 7:30? Turtle Utz made some interesting additions to the popularity contest. Jeremiah has a GI haircut—Hubba Hubba.” George L.
