Hold Meeting
“We Should Be Teachers Always” was the theme of the spring meeting of District N Retired Teachers held Tuesday, April 7 at the Rappahannock Elementary School with the president. O. A. Norton, in charge.
The Rev. David Moore, pastor of the Washington Baptist Church gave an inspiring talk on the theme. Regardless of retirement, we should be teachers always, he said and used the life of Christ, the divine teacher, as an example.
Mrs. Jane Palmer gave a timely introduction to guest speaker. Mrs. Elizabeth Powell, president and backbone of the State Retired Teachers Association. Her continuation ol the theme was "Be Teachers To The End.” Retired teachers should be proud of the job . which they have done, she said. "We are not a deprived * group, but an independent group, smart and intelligent. We enjoy the respect of the people whose lives we have touched.”
District N involves eight counties which were represented by 58 retired teachers.
Beautiful music by the Rappahannock High School music department under the direction of Judy Bomberger. provided entertainment for the meeting.
The committee responsible for the meeting, program and successful day included Mrs. Arlene Wake, president RRTA; Miss Mary Miller Wood. Mrs. Annie Moore. Mrs. Mary Quaintance and Mrs. Christine Johnston.
