According to a report given to the Rappahannock supervisors at their April 6 meeting by Flint Hill fire chief Frankie Huff, the Culpeper fire department is willing to listen to alternatives to dropping the free dispatch service provided four Rappahannock fire and rescue units “but their position is still that they wish us to get off.”
Huff said the only action taken at a recent meeting between emergency services personnel and local government representatives from the two counties was to set a 120 day deadline for development of proposals for upgrading Culpeper’s dispatch service. He emphasized that no assurance was given as to whether Culpeper firemen would go along with any alternatives, only that they’d listen.
