The Rappahannock school board voted unanimously at a special meeting Monday night to hire Gerald Stanley Lysik as assistant superintendent for the county’s public schools.
Currently director of middle schools for the Syracuse, New York, city system, Dr. Lysik, 39 years old, is married and the father of four children.
A native of Dewitt, New York, he earned his bachelor degree from St. Lawrence University with a major in physical education and minors in biology and psychology. He has a masters and doctoral degree from Syracuse University in the fields of educational administration and community education. His studies also included politics of education and secondary education.
Lysik’s starting salary was set at $27,000.
