Eastham also requested the board to reinstate $1,250 to the school budget to pay for an unqualified audit, accompanied by an order to the school board to commence procedures for the audit by July 1.
If his requests aren’t met, Eastham said he will act to have the state auditor examine the school’s financial records “even if 1 have to walk barefoot through the executive mansion in Richmond.”
Eastham said he was tired, disappointed and sad after his two years on the school board, service that he had thought would be both pleasant and fulfilling.
“We fight each other,” use the children “as pawns” to serve individual interests, “we tell lies to each other,” he said of the school board.
Eastham maintained that the supervisors would be willing to “walk an extra mile” for the students if they took the time to have lunch with children at the elementary school, “listen to their sunny laughter, gaze in their bright faces.”
